Jacob's Ladder - Deleted Scenes - Pictures and Videos

One other IMDb user already had message board with info about deleted scenes, but for some reason it was deleted (ironic, right?) so i decided to make a new one. I have to mention, some parts of this list are copied from the one he made.

According to director's Adrian Lyne's audio commentary, test screenings indicated that the initial version of the film was overwhelming for the audience. In response, about 20 minutes of disturbing scenes, mostly from the last third of the film, were removed from the final cut.

Original script by Bruce Joel Rubin was different, many scenes were either changed or deleted from the movie. Rubin's original script can be read here http://sfy.ru/?script=jacobs_ladder

Here is the list of all known deleted scenes;

1. Briefly after Jacob Singer is nearly killed at the train station, he finds a man being raped by another man in the subway bathroom. Bits and pieces of this can be seen in the making of documentary as well as the teaser trailer. The teaser trailer also briefly shows a couple extra shots of the inside of the subway train.

2.While Jacob is on a routine delivery route, he sits in his delivery van eating a sandwich and reading a book when he sees a bag of mail in the back of his truck begin to move. Based on original script, some tramp was sleeping in the bag and after he wakes up, he is scared by Jacob who takes him out of the van on the street and gives him some money. This scene can be seen in theatrical trailer.

3. Jezzie's and Jacob's sex scene - this was probably before she gets up to get dressed toward the beginning or when Jacob confesses he's seeing 'demons'. Also seen in theatrical trailer.

4. In the 4th episode of "Bravo's 100 Scariest Movie Moments". Jacob's Ladder is listed as 21st movie, and in this episode they show two pictures of deleted scenes; one of the "patients" from "hospital of hell" scene who is not seen in the movie, and also a pic of Jacob holding the torch in his right hand and what looks like gasoline cannister in left hand. In original script, there is a part where Jacob burns down Army Headquarters building and some people on the street (i think), which is why he has to escape from city. This was originally right after Louis saved Jacob from hospital and helped him out with his back injuries and before he meets up with Michael and deleted "Antidote" and "Train Station" scenes. It's also the reason why Jacob was showering after the scene with Louis in normal version of the movie. This scene would make perfect sense with "Train Station" deleted scene in which we see that Jacob is buying ticket to Chicago while looking at people around him as if they will arrest him.

5. The antidote (available on Special Edition). After meeting Michael, Jacob accompanies him to his apartment after Michael explains he has developed a cure for The Ladder. Jacob sits down on the bed and Michael says he has never tried the antidote out. Jacob is reluctant to take it, but Michael convinces him. He takes the medicine and lies down on the bed. After a moment, the room begins to shake, and the ceiling begins to crumble. Michael urges Jacob to calm down, saying it is all in his mind, but Jacob becomes more and more panicked. Then blood begins to pour through the ceiling, and a huge demon punches its way through before looking at Jacob and roaring. Scene then cuts to a shot of the apartment, peaceful and undamaged. Jacob is asleep on the bed, Michael sitting in a chair by the side of the bed. After a moment, Jacob wakes up, and Michael tells him it's all over.

6. Train station (available on Special edition). Immediately after the above scene, there is a scene in Grand Central Station where a clearly elated Jacob purchases a ticket for Chicago. As he does so, he notices two policemen looking at him, and then sees three men in long black coats also watching him. He gets his ticket and goes into the toilets, passing a homeless man washing his feet in the sink. Jacob goes into a cubicle and sits with his feet up on the rim. After a moment, a bit of toilet paper is pushed through a hole in the wall from the cubicle next door, and as Jacob reaches for it, he hears the demonic voice say 'Dream on.' He runs from the cubicle and sees that the sink the homeless man was using is now full of blood.

7. Jacob finds Michael decapitated. After the deleted scene in Grand Central Station, there was a scene where Jacob returns to Michael's apartment. Michael isn't at home, so Jacob goes down into the basement and finds Michael's lab. He looks around for a while, before finding Michael's decapitated head in a filing cabinet. A brief moment of this scene can also be found in the Making-Of' featurette 'Building 'Jacob's Ladder''.

8. Final confrontation; Jezzie's transformation (available on Special edition). After returning to his house, Jacob is sitting in the living room when Jezzie enters. She tells him that it is over and then she begins to transform into something else. Jacob watches for a moment, and then walks over to her, removing a hood from her head. He then sees his own face, smiling back at him.
