Tim Curry's acting was simply good

... not excellent as evrybody claims.

Sure, Tim is the reason this movie isn't terrible, but everybody talks baout his acting as if it were Oscar or Emmy worthy. It was just good and I liked it, but Pennywise was too funny and cartoonish, esecially in the library scene. In the book It is extremely sadistic and trully vicious. In the miniseries It's a comedian and not creepy enough. Plus, hwta was that lame shower scene? It just go visit Eddie and say "Hello"? And then It just went away without even trying to kill Eddie?

I don't think Pennywise's true intention was to just say hello. I think his definition of "Hello" was scare the kid half to death.

I always thought his betrayal was creepy and his hellos and sense of humor came off as creepy with maybe the exception of the library scene. I thought his cartoonish portrayal came off as weird and creepy like it should be. When he points and laugh at people it's just appropriately creepy imo. The same when he asks people if they want a balloon. I think it's his voice also that makes him creepy. Something dark and sinister about it. He says these lines that are meant to trick kids and he has this evil sounding voice.

The scary clown doll is hiding under my bed.

Pennywise's true intention should be to eat Eddie. But for some reason he doesn't. Makes no sense.

So it was Tim Curry's performance that kept him from eating Eddie?

Now, for the record, it is a dumb scene. Pennywise has Eddie and basically let's him go. The way I have had to justify it in my head is that he MEANT to eat him but the turtle's influence kept Eddie safe. OR Pennywise was just "salting the meat" and planned to get him later anyways.

As much as I love the series, they dropped all the unique ways and reasons that the losers were able to persevere when other kids died. Instead Pennywise showed up and just sucked at getting them. Or just didn't try very hard
