thoughts?

I really like it. Not what I expected, but in a good sense. It stays close to the description form the book, yet it's also quite original.

What did you expect it to be like then, I read some people think the other clown from the mini series was scary but this one isn't

Are you glad they are doing it in two films or would you have preferred another mini series format

Well, even though is stays close to the description of the book, I expected it to be more of a generic circus clown suit, instead of a combination of medieval, Elizabethan and Victorian clown suits.

I read some people think the other clown from the mini series was scary but this one isn't

I disagree. I never found Tim Curry's Pennywise scary at all. A bit creepy, yes, but not scary. He was too cartoonish and funny, not sinister enough as in the book.

Both of them. I am glad that they're going to make two movies, each one with a 2 hs 30 min length, which is enough to make justice to an over 1000 pages novel. But also in my opinion, this would have been quite better if they made an HBO or Netflix 4 or 5 episode miniseries. Anyways, I'm really exited about the new adaptafion finally happening.

Looks a little too try hard and obvious to me - it's a bit too 'edgy clown Halloween costume' - they're are more subtle ways to portray sinister and creepy imo
I have seen some pictures of some of the outside sets (I'm glad the Paul Bunyan statue from the book is in this version ), the kids playing the losers club and it all looks pretty good

reply

I know what you mean the clown is mean't to be like a happy kind of clown and doesn't look menacing only until he gets his prey

Oh good glad about the statue from the book being in this, When do you think we will see a trailer? Do you have links for these outside sets?

reply

The clown actually looks pretty menacing all throughout the book, apart from the opening chapter involving the encounter with Georgie.

But people are judging on one picture. We don't know what the clown will look and act like in the movie yet. It's like judging Tim Curry's clown just on this still:

You can find a lot of pictures on the fanpage of the movie, for example this album:

I remember as a kid my cousin would read the book to me whenever I went round there, Those were the days and the pictures/drawings inside the book were scary

Yea that is true about about judging just by one picture- When we haven't seen him move etc

But with one picture you do get the idea

reply

not scary in my opinion

reply

HAHA so what would you call it then, And I agree from what I have seen so far he is not scary just seems like a angry clown

reply

I've not read the book - how is he depicted in this? Scary looking or normal looking?

reply

In the book he's scary looking. The only time he's normal looking, is when he talks to Georgie. Even then Georgie is first startled by a pair of scary yellow eyes before It takes on the form of the clown.

reply

Therefore could it be a possibility that the picture recently published is Pennywise in his more sinister form?

reply

I actually thing Pennywise looks good. I loved him in this movie though. The newer version gives him more of a classic old fashioned clown look and makes him even creepier. I expected to hate how he looked.
