shareI don't think Eddie was really mentally weak at all, at least Eddie in the book (in the series, adult Eddie really got shafted). Yeah, he had a hard time giving up the aspirator even though he knew his asthma was psychosomatic, but in terms of dealing with It he wasn't mentally weak at all. And his death was really just bad luck - Eddie was trying to fight It physically while Richie and Bill were engaged in the CHÜD thing and Ben was off squashing eggs. He attacked the Spider with his aspirator and It got a hold of his arm and tore it off. In fact Eddie was my favorite character in the book, along with Ben. I was so bummed that he didn't make it.

Yeah, Eddie is pretty badass in the book. He stands up against his house of an overbearing mother and dances the mashed potatoes all over the crawling eye.

I actually hated the way that they Eddie was just "left there" and forgotten...I get that they could not physically get him out (they had to save Audra), but he was simply forgotten afterward, never mentioned again or even if anyone contacted Myra...I get that all the characters were slowly forgetting their past and their existence as friends, but it seemed like King just left Eddie without any closure from his friends and loved ones....
shareYes in the sewer,when they are all fighting the spider he has his aspirator and says " I believe in Santa Claus,I believe in the Easter Bunny,I believe in the Tooth Fairy but I don't believe in you this is Battery acid and now you disappear",The spider grabs poor Eddie,and Kills him,he dies in bevs arms but his last words to Richie are "Richie don't call me that..you know I hate....(Richie called him Spaghetti man) and when they defeat It,Bill Grabs Audra,Richie has Eddie's Body slung around his neck carrying him out of the sewers
