Why did the entire family have to return?
I mean Kate returned. Wouldn't that be enough? But now that I think about it, in Christmas families have to be together.

shareIt's Peter's son too. He needs to go back. Along with Kate and Peter are the rest of Kate and Peter's kids.
shareOf course. But couldn't Peter and the rest continue their vacation while only Kate returned? But of course during Christmas the entire family has to be together.
shareKate had to scrape and barter and hitchhike her way to get back home. There was no guarantee she would get there as fast as she wanted. So Peter also had to try and get back to his son too. That's way more important than some vacation. He ended up taking the flight that Kate didn't want to wait for.
shareAnd don't forget, Kate only beat Peter to Kevin by a matter of minutes. So up until that moment, for all Peter knew, Kevin was still alone.
How silly would it be for the dad of a missing child to go "Whelp, mom is on the way, let's go to the Eiffel Tower."
