Now that I’ve started door dashing
It would actually make my day if someone said in the delivery instructions: “leave it on the doorstep and get the hell out of here”

sharelol true
shareWhy not just say delivering? Just curious
shareOh, you haven’t seen the TV ad campaign that DoorDash hired Marvel to do. There’s an entire online comic book depicting DoorDashers as superheroes who SAVE THEIR CITY!! You cannot make stuff like this up. All the barter-culture rides and deliveries are begging for staffing. Staff erosion is ferocious as the wide-eyed alleged independent contractors realize they’re making only pennies an hour and that their company’s dispatch algorithm sends the “dashers” where corporate wants them to go and not where the drivers want to go. DoorDash’s ad campaign makes Dashers feel cool and rebellious, and gives a false expectation about TIPS. I took a $150 delivery today. I tipped 5 percent. The guy drove to a store, picked up 2 crates, drove 1 mile to my home and put the crates inside the front door. He cooked nothing, prepared nothing, did not advise me about my purchase or in any way add value to it. He schlepped 2 crates. There are more stories coming out about Dashers bitching to customers about tips, which is completely unprofessional. Anyway, the OP seems invested in the image of DoorDashing, so he’s embraced it.
Re: the OP’s wish someone would just say, “drop it off and go away”: (1) the drivers already decide to do that on their own, our foyer is filled with Dash bags every day, just waiting to be stolen, and (2) most of the drivers don’t even read any instructions. I’ve not had ONE DRIVER call when s/he arrived, as I requested.
