I've thought she gave a great performance as Kevin's mother who is uptight and worries a lot, I also loved the long wool coats she wore in both of the movies, I do feel when it comes to the Home Alone movies she doesn't get recognized as much as Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern.

And even though I grew up middle class, I could feel her discomfort having to 'rough it' in coach, haggling for tickets, driving in a van with a band.
Be besides that pretentiousness, she was a caring mother trying to make it home.
I was never a fan of hers, I thought she was overrated, but admit she was very good in this film.

The dad I'm not too sure what his instruction was. He's likeable but very detached. He's nowhere near as committed to seeing Kevin as the mom is.
