Going away for Christmas?

This may sound unrelated, but does family actually do go on holiday (vacation) while spending Christmas with their family?

I thought it was maybe a rich person thing. Families I know travel home for Christmas but I am middle class. Not only were thr McCallister's gone but their entire neighborhood.

We always used to go on holiday with family Christmas time. One year went on a Carribean cruise for fourteen nights. Here in UK is colddddddd :(

Well, maybe they don't go away other times. I'm not familiar with such large families myself, yet having all those kids out of school, holidays from white collar work, etc... Christmas season is as good a time as any.
Besides, most of them would've all taken time off to visit at one of their homes anyways yes?

As for being wealthy, their house certainly shows it, let alone getting all those numbers to f'n Paris at holiday peak travel rates.

You keep forgetting that Peter's brother invited everyone to Paris so they aren't exactly spending that amount on a luxurious holiday plus Uncle Frank brought his family over to his brother to stay before leaving so.
