It's loosely based on a true story. It's not scary but more of a disturbing drama.
shareIt's not scary per se. Don't expect jumps or even dread.
It's scary in that it's brutally real and the majority of the kills are disturbing as hell, but like the previous post said, it's more of a dark docu drama and a character study, so at times, although he's as sick as they come, you treat him like the hero at times.
In my less formal manner, if you're planning on showing this to your mates and you're young, you'll probably get a few boo's and yawns from a crowd expecting Texas chainsaw massacre or Paranormal activity etc.
Disturbing, not scary. It was by no means a slasher/"torture porn" film the way Hostel or even Scream was. If you liked Dahmer (from early 2000's), this is similar in many ways.
Look at how happy you are, so carefree. It's almost as if you don't know you're Billy Bush!-Triumph

More disturbing than scary.
It's scary when you take into account that there are serial killers out there like Henry (even if the film wasn't accurate, Henry and Otis were indeed sick demented killers).
All I can say is, Rooker's performance as Henry makes any villain portrayal by "the king of portraying villains"... Gary Oldman... look like children's stuff.
You can't be a satanist without being a christian.
disturbing is a better way to describe it.

Is there anyone over the age of 14 that actually gets scared while watching a movie? Disturbing cinema is the only thing that gets me close to that feeling anymore.
