I'm wondering if this movie was inspired by the true stories of either Sante Kimes or Virginia Larzalier??? Anybody know??

I do not think so. Jim Thompson wrote the novel it is based on. Sante Kimes victimized person after person and is a violent killer. She is also a sociopath too.
The characters in The Grifters were out to make a buck and violence was not part of their methods.
