I don't know about you people, but I kinda wanted a closeup of the body that Roy had to claim as his mother or not. I'm into movie special affects, so thats probably why I was somewhat disappointed. Anyone else agree?
I wasn't all that curious about Myra's body. But I was curious about Lilly and Roy's relationship. I wanted to know more about them. That's what so great about the film though. It leaves you kind of unsatisfied and wanting more. The book is the exact same way. The book gives you a few more details about different things but like the movie, you're still left to your own devices to figure what happened before, after and in between. I love it though.
shareThe body wasn't really the point of the scene. All he really needed to see was whether or not she still had that cigar burned into her right hand and if she didn't then he knew that it wasn't his mother. The rest of the body is inessential.
