Cusack in the bar...

Is there a name or term for what he does in the bar, where he gets hit in the stomach? He shows one bill, then switches it, like showing a $20, then only giving a $10, but still getting the change for the $20...

Anyone know?

"Death, you are my bitch lover!"

This was a variation of "twenties" - and I think that was the term used in Jim Thompson's book, from which the film is based.
As one of the oldest and most common of the short-cons, it has no doubt been known by countless other names as well.

"Quick-change artist"-- They confuse there victims into giving them more change then they are entitled to. I was a restaurant manager and had to train cashiers of the ways that they can cheat you.

"Momma told me not to come."

yea, i tried to use this move in a bar before.... it doesnt work as smoothly as it does in the movie (the 1st time). any fool can tell the difference between a 10 and a 20 when they put it in the register.

lol that stunt would never work......maybe 1 out of every 30 times......also no bartender would hit you with a bat because of the difference of a 20 and ten either.

It's the bartenders who are the real thieves. There are a million tricks to rob innocent patrons!

A quick change artist is something different. The term is "short change" artist.
