why didn't myra take the money from the trunk?

did she so badly want lilly to get busted by bobo that when she followed lilly's car to that motel and tried to strangle her, why didn't she pry open the trunk (which i'm sure she could have done somehow) and take the money for herself? or did she want lilly to be found out? and why did she even try to kill lilly? cause lilly pissed her off so bad since roy wouldn't work with myra cause of lilly? that didn't add up to me cause myra was smart.

The Phoenix police said that there was a lot of money left in Lily's trunk. Why didn't Lily take all the money before stealing Myra's car?

still, she should have taken at least some of it since he dind't know the exact amount anyway. i would have. i mean at least $5000 or something. but not any of it? i wonder if bobo did eventually get the money or a random car break-inner/thief who chances upon it?

That's a very interesting thought. Continue with that logic, and it would make sense that Roy had her money (hidden somewhere) during the whole final scene, and held it back from her, partially out of greed, but mostly out of hatred and spite and all the mother/son issues we've learned about from the movie.

Speaking of mother/son issues, I like your user ID. That, and you're also into this movie. Veeeerrry interesting!

"Well, how was it?".
"It was degrading, humiliating, emasculating... and somewhat enjoyable".

Prying open a car's trunk and unloading a trunk-full of money in a motel parking lot is not likely to go unnoticed. Killing Lilly gave Myra access to the car keys so that the money could be unloaded privately.

Yes....and also, Myra is right outside Lily's room and can't be absolutely sure she's asleep. If she's heard breaking into and unloading Lily's car by the owner, a big loud scene could ensue and it would derail her plan.

It's a smoother operation for the heartless Myra to kill her mark first, then deal with the money after, just using Lily's car key (or even stealing the car altogether).

It is likely to go unnoticed, because they were both around the back, where there were no prying eyes (heh, heh). More to the point, why not use that enormous set of keys Myra had to get into the car and just drive away? She didn't need Lily's keys to do that. Before she took Lily's car, she could go drive and park her car a mile away somewhere, anywhere, come back, and then take Lily's car.

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

The enormous set of keys were all motel room keys and would not have contained Lilly's car keys. That's why Myra was trying to access Lilly's room.
