wow. they did SUCH a good jorb on the special fx. was this low-budget or something, or was it just because of the 80s when they had to do everything manually

OK f/x for the 80s. Unfortunately it was released in the 90s.

The CGI today sucks. You can tell everything is fake. Like in 10,000 BC- you know its a cartoon tiger. I think many special effects from the 80s and 90s are far superior to the effects today.

I think CGI is incredible in some movies, but you have to admit some of them are not so convincing .... they do at times look like giant cartoon.
