Would anyone happen to know what state "Don't Tell Her It's Me" or "Boyfriend School" (Which ever) was filmed?

If you look at the left hand menu for any movie in IMDB, there is a link called "filming locations" (under Other Info). If you click on it, it will tell you at which location(s) the movie was filmed. The filming locations link for "Don't Tell Her It's Me" aka "The Boyfriend School" states the film was shot in Charleston, South Carolina. So, yeah, I'm pretty sure. :)

I just now today put 2 and 2 together and realized it was South Carolina. In the movie Emily states that she would be "locked up" if she didn't first teach him a dance called "the shag". I just discovered that the official dance of South Carolina is "the shag".

Cool--I was wondering the same thing. I had thought it was coastal LA at first, until I saw a So. Carolina flag in it, but hadn't been able to pin it down more than that.

I'm from Charleston, SC and can remember when they were filming it here. The gas station where Lobo makes his dramatic encounter with Emily has since been torn down, as have the cooper river bridges we see him riding over. But it's pure Charleston from the Row houses to the Plantations.

The end credits say 'totally filmed in Charleston, SC' - doesn't anyone watch these films?

And there was something (said?) at the very beginning that made it very clear it was Charleston.

Yes the end credits clearly mentioned it was filmed in its entirety there.
The prologue should not be taken for real though, she was narrating a book she was trying to write, it didn't have to be set where she actually lives.

Yes I'm from Charleston too and was here when they filmed it so can tell you they definitely filmed it here. The big beautiful house where Shelley Long lived is actually on James Island, SC just outside of Charleston. It is in a place called Stiles Point Plantation. It was an old plantation home near the Ashley River. They also used this neighborhood to film some scenes from the movie "Satisfaction" with Justine Bateman.

That apartment that Emily lives in is DIVINE. If I suddenly had a ton of money, I'd make an architect watch the movie over and over until he could replicate it.
