and yet I'm hard-pressed to think of very many comic book movies that don't have a thin plot.

I love this movie. Its charms, like most good comic book movies, are surface not story-related. It's got a breezy, fun atmosphere, stunning visuals, crazy make-up, scenery-chewing acting and stirring music. What more from this kind of movie could you want?

I enjoy this movie as well. The cast is fun and the production design still holds up. *BUT* the story could have been improved. Earlier stuff like Superman '78 and Batman '89 (the latter of which this desperately wants to cash in on) proved comic-book/strip movies can have finely textured storytelling and thematic richness.

I like it. The plot could've had a bit more depth though. Also, probably one too many montages.
