No ! Because Dick Tracy 1990 was already filming before Batman 1989 was released
shareDick Tracy and Batman(1989) are both visually stunning movies! I love those movies.
shareFor years, I've thought that it was a Tim Burton movie and I was genuinely surprised to find out that Warren Beatty directed it. It's basically Batman, but with bright colors instead of dark visuals and an overall campier tone.
shareNo ! Because Dick Tracy 1990 was already filming before Batman 1989 was releasedThis guy is an !D!OT! This was obviously Disney's answer to Burton's Batman...even went so far as to hire Danny Elfman for the score and "make it sound like Batman"....gimme a break! Its a ripoff of Batman, except Beatty manages to make Dick Tracy much more boring then the ever so serious Bruce Wayne (which Michael Keaton nailed IMO).
How is he an idiot when he's stating widely known facts? Dick Tracy began filming in February 1989 while Batman was released June 23, 1989. The two films were made at different studios and no one from the production team of Dick Tracy had any involvement with the production of Batman other than Danny Elfman, who would hardly have any influence on the cinematography of Dick Tracy. Any similarity in the visual styles of the two movies is purely coincidental.
shareI always felt Dick Tracy was closer in tone to Adam West Batman than Tim Burton Batman.
share@Disardor There's more - they both have scenes with the hero crashing through the ceiling, and they both end in a bell/clock tower. It's possible that it's all just coincidence I guess but, you know...
shareomg another coincidence - both movies were made out of comic books that feature ass kicking detectives and a crazy cast of bad guys! WHAT ARE THE ODDS.
Dick Tracy and Batman are both good movies. Antz and Bugs Life are both good movies.
sleazy execs make eye roll worthy decisions. Such is life.
