The Kid and Breathless

They've been playing this movie on one of my movie channels a lot lately. I've caught it a couple of times, I also saw it when it first came out in the theaters.
Back then I was a Madonna fan, not so much anymore. But I've always felt that the boy who played The Kid was miscast, I find him annoying and not cute at all with his little beaver-like face. Yeah I know that's mean to say about a child but I think they could have cast a boy that was more likable. Someone like River Pheonix when he was that age for example. Or the boy who was in Big that played the best friend of Tom Hanks character.
As for the character of Breathless, when the movie first came out I thought Madonna was beautiful and did a sufficient job of acting compared to Shanghai Surprise. And her singing was solid. But now when I see it on t.v. I think Michelle Pfeifer would have been so much better. Madonna seems stiff and unnatural.
Just my opinions.
The movie had some vibrant pretty colors though.
