After Big Boy's failed attempt to kill Tracy...

(in the boiler room), why didn't Tracy go and arrest he and his goons on an attempted murder charge (not to mention attempted bribery)? He'd spent half the movie trying to get some charges to stick, and here he has an airtight reason to arrest them and it's never even mentioned.

after that scene and the scene with the 'certificate ceremony' for the kid, it cuts to the scene in the cemetery where we find out the DA is working for big boy. the next scene is the DA walking with dick tracy saying that there are 14 witnesses saying big boy was at a dance class all afternoon.

i guess even if dick tracy did arrest big boy and his boys it wouldnt matter anyway since the DA would find a reason not to prosecute since he was on the take

I actually read the novelization when the movie was released, though I don't remember a thing about it (Can't believe it's been 25 years). Seems like--as is usually the case with novelizations, which makes them worth reading--things are fleshed out a bit more or cut/abandoned storylines and concepts are included.

Thanks for the extra knowledge.
