Beatty and Madonna some of the least likeable screen presences ever

Probably one of the reasons it failed. Beatty always too busy shagging whomever his starlet is (in this case Madonna) off screen to deliver an energetic, interesting performance (he just sort of blinks and recites his lines in every movie), while Madonna just gives a flat delivery, is cold, and projects none of her charisma as a music performer as an actress. Add the fact that Tracy had no pull with the current generation the way Batman did and this was doomed from the start (funny villain bits with Pacino and Hoffman however).

1) - I dont think it failed at all, it's an underrated cult classic
2) - I wouldnt say their screen presence was some of the least likable ever... That's over exaggerating, but Beatty shouldve cast a proper actress in that part. She isnt horrible (IMO) but good is something else. She was decent. A Bit annoying tho

Beatty's alright (Harrison Ford would've been much better though), and Madonna's awful, especially her "Tell me you want me. Tell me you want it all but tell me now" moment.

But the visuals and the rest of the cast, particularly Pacino and Hoffman, help make up for her.
