Re-Watch in Black and White!

I decided to re-watch this film. I recall seeing it as a kid and not being overly impressed.

I can appreciate what Warren was going for but I really don't think the limited yet vivid colour pallet actually worked, it bombards the eye with bright primary colours making it hard to focus on the scenes or even take anything remotly seriously (Yes its a comic book film I get it). The set design itself, the make up and the matte paintings were beautifully crafted. Switching the film to mono-tone changes the film, no longer do you feel like your watching an episode of 'Batman' with Adam West but it feels a lot more like a caricature of 40's hard boiled film-noirs. The lighting is wonderful and suits black and white a hell of a lot more.

Egon, but not forgotten. Rest In Peace, Harold Ramis.

I love the signature...

Watching this in B&W makes about as much sense as colorizing Schindler's List.

To see the only real monster, one must only look in the mirror.

Sure it doesn't. I don't have a magic button on my tv to colourize B&W films so I guess I'll never know.

I was thinking it would be interesting to watch this in black and white.

The original Dick Tracy serials and movies of the 30s and 40s were of course black and white, so you could see how this one compares.
