First Dick Tracy's helping some guy out from under the cement mixer, the next minute he's standing underneath it, to the point that his gun won't fire. How did he manage to fυсk things up so bad?
shareHe was helping save the bug guy (Michael J. Pollard) and then when No Face showed up unexpectedly, he tried to fire his gun, but he didn't realize what had happened. It all happened quickly, after looking at the scene again last night.

I watched the scene a few times and think that maybe Tracy had to unbind Bug's feet and hands or helped him free and probably got underneath the waterfall of cement at that point.
Lol It may not make sense, but he needed to be covered in the cement so that the character in the story would be unsure if he saw a blank face or not. Basically it was a plot device that may not really make sense or can be explained.
I thought that the gun could at least still fire a first shot, before getting cement in it.
shareI always thought Tracy's idea was to get under the cement when Pruneface and Influence were distracted. Then when they got close enough, thinking it was still Bug, he could ambush them. His plan was working, except his gun jammed from the cement. Lucky for him, The Blank saved him.
Of course this begs the question; why even bother getting into the cement? Once you had the front of the crate open, then Bug was ok, even if his legs were bound you could just grab him and pull him out. Or just open fire while the guys were distracted.
