So, does anyone else love this movie?
I loved Deadbeat At Dawn for its tone, its cool low-tech action, and above all its attitude. What a great movie. Can't wait for Charlie's Family.
Has anyone else ever even seen it?

I've got a book about zombie & cannibal movies with an intro by Jim Van Bebber, and he says he'd love to make a big-budget, big-star old-school cannibal flick.
How awesome would that be?

This was a great movie, it is a masterpiece contrary to what dominic says. These guys did their own stunts, Their own special effects, and all of this was done on a shoestring budget. i uploaded the climax to youtube, Search for deadbeat at dawn climax, im peterbaker on youtube.
shareI recently got this DVD from netflix and LOVED it. Great story about growing up kinda lost as a kid. Great fights, great dialog. In ways it's so bad it's good, the finale is awesome.
Very entertaining little flick so few people ever see.

I second that, only it's actually pretty great, not bad at all. It drags you in and doesn't let go.

I love this movie. The homemade action scenes are great. It is more exciting to see action scenes that feel like real people are involved instead of CGI tricks.
shareI love the flick too! I re-watch it at least 2 or 3 times a year, The Manson Family and his shorts are wicked too. I hope he makes another feature length film someday

Yeah man !! Deadbeat is a great film :)
share"Deadbeat At Dawn" is a mindblowing action film. Yes, I love it too. Here we have a movie created with almost zero budget, that manages to surpass the biggest Hollywood productions, just on sheer talent and passion for film making. I know some people dismiss this movie because of it's "cheap look," but these are people who have zero understanding of cinema.
"IMdB; where 14 year olds can act like jaded 40 year old critics...'
The film is extremely impressive for what it is and was a large part of why I decided to start making my own films. Consider that Van Bebber made a FILM (as in shot-on-film) with a shoestring budget and 80's technology and directed it, starred in it, did all the martial arts choreography AND bloody special effects (which are mostly pretty good) by himself! Usually when a filmmaker wears that many hats, the film falls flat on its face, but in this case it works very well. The film is energetic all the way through and there's not a single scene in it that feels auto-pilot like they just got the bare minimum coverage to move the plot along (as most low budget movies are prone to do). I know it's super rough around the edges and hard for regular film watchers to like, but the older I get and the more I know about filmmaking, the more amazed by this movie I become.
