i'm not sure if i'm dillusional or what, but i seem to remember a "Days of Thunder" themed ride where you sat in seats in a theater and the seats would move and shake with what the action was on the screen.
if this ride did infact exist, what theme park was it in??
Paramount's Great America in Santa Clara, CA.....whether or not the attraction was anywhere else, I don't know.
Last time I was there they had Spongebob freakin' Squarepants, yet they still had the checkerboard panels on the doors. Stupid to change it. It was awesome.
One more to add... They had one @ 'Paramount's King's Island' just outside Cincinnati from the mid 90's until the early part of this decade. If I remember right, as you were waiting in line, there were several TV's around that played a video hosted by Kyle(?) Petty. It was a fairly popular ride when it first came out [maybe because it was air conditioned ].
Paramount bought out 'King's Island' [which use to have a tie in with 'Hanna-Barbara'] sometime in the early 90's and thus Paramount movie themes began to pop up everywhere. They also had a 'Top Gun' ride around the same time.
’Cause there’s thunder in your heart... Every move is like lightning!
Yes, they had is at carowinds. I think they had it for several years, but then they started changing what is was every year. They changed it to James Bond, and I forget what they changed it to they next year. I haven't been since, and that was 7 or 8 years ago.
i've been going to paramounts kings dominion in Virgina my whole life, the action theater had days of thunder until about 1999, then it turned into a james bond ride, followed by this weird robot fighting adventure, with it currently being a spongebob squarepants underwater adventure.
the Kyle Petty video!!! wow... I completely forgot about that. I think they had a replica Stock Car near the theatre when you waited in line (this is at the Canada's Wonderland one...good times, I loved that ride)
I remember going on the DoT ride at GA back in the days. They sit you in a big chair that holds two. There's the screen that has clips of the movies but you never see the actors. You follow the motion of the car in your seats. They would go into the pit and jack up both sides of the car and you would feel that in the seat as well. Worth a ride I thought.
I remember riding this at Kings Dominion back in the 90s, also rode the Outer Limits Flight Of Fear when it was brand new, think Waynes World coaster was also still there
Wait a second.. this is a food restaurant we dont serve salad
I believe the Days Of Thunder themed ride you are talking about was in Paramount Parks and I happened to ride it with my parents and my aunt and my cousin and it was pretty cool and really impressive. Since I was a NASCAR fan and a Days Of Thunder fan I really enjoyed the ride a lot. Paramount Parks then replaced the Days Of Thunder ride later on with a James Bond ride but then it closed when Cedar Fair bought Paramount Parks. But the Days Of Thunder ride was really advanced for a new innovation in amusement rides today
Yeah I remember this ride at King's Island in Cincinnati sometime back in the 90s. They had a bunch of memorabilia from the movie. I hadn't seen the movie at the time so I didn't really have interest in it, but that would be cool to revisit now. I don't think it exists anymore though.
