I loved the first one and I'd have to rank it as one of the greatest superhero movies ever made. I love it because it's so dark and yet upbeat at the same time. It's also very interesting as I love that Darkman is not truly a hero in the truest sense of the term, rather he is just on a destructive mission of revenge. I love this movie.
But then came the straight to video sequels...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

"Then let's head down into that celler, and carve ourselves a witch!"

The first Darkman is the only good one, and it's only good because it's fun to see a young Liam Nesson in a totally cheeseball role, and because, of course, it is a Sam Raimi movie. The reason the sequels sucked was because they wern't Raimi. He has an ability to make a horrendiously bad movie extremely enjoyable. Darkman is the perfect example. It's completely over-the-top, and it never takes itself very seriously. If you don't understand, just watch Evil Dead II. If you don't get that, you never will.

I remember seeing it on tv when i was reeaaaally little and i vaguely remember it. It was on tv the other night a 11pm and i couldn't bare to watch it after 30 mins into the movie, cuz i remembered being so scared when i was little before and i felt like sleeping. I think it screwed with my head..lol

i thought it was one of the worst films i've ever seen. not the worst...but definately top 20. makes me wonder how these types of things don't get scrapped after reviewing the first day of filming. there's campy and there's crap...darkman was just crap.

I love this film. It's because of this film I took more of an interest in
Sam Raimi's work. It is also completely different to other "superhero" films I've seen.

I really liked the first one, but then the sequels kinda ruined it for me... Dragging out the same old plot, they felt really unnecessary.
So, love the first one, hate the rest.

Too weird to live, to rare to die!

Love the first one. It is by far the greatest comic-book-movie-not-based-on-a-comic-book ever made. More importantly, it is dripping with Sam Raimi's inimitably stylistic touch. Oh, and dare I not forget to mention Danny Elfman's marvelous score (his best, next to Batman, in my opinion).

The direct-to-video sequels were mediocre at best.

To see the only real monster, one must only look in the mirror.

The first Darkman rocks and it doesn't need any sequels. The sequels are nothing compared to the first...and I mean nothing. They are completely passable IMO.

I really like the first one! for me is te kind of movie that doesn´t need a sequel, but Darkman II was OK because it has Larry Drake as Durant. Darkman III is the weakest for me...

i watched all 3 last week,, and the reason i liked them was because not lots of that cgi crap,, it may be good for todays' hollywood spiderman iron man stuff, but when you watch comic book heroes you have to remember when they were made plus the darkman series has a very good plotline and story to tell.
