Was Durant gay for Ricky?

What with the martini and all...?

reply

When your thugs notice how much the big boss ''likes'' Ricky.

Yeah.

There may have been something there.

I noticed that too when the One-Legged henchman said it

reply

I myself just assumed that Durant is fond of Ricky because he's the young rookie, the protégé.

I never saw him as gay. It could've been because as you say he was a protégé. But had he been it would've stood out more. There's was no reason not to show him banging several of his henchmen or with a bf or something. He couldve been also much more feminine.

In the second one like the other poster says he shows the doctor a bunch of his own private collection of mistresses what he fails to see is that those are Durant. What you think he'd have them laying around for the good ol' Doc?

Also it is custom not to be attached to a woman, wife, or anything if your a kingpin and they wouldn't either since they can have a pick of madam lines every week.

Ted Raimi said in an interview for Fangoria that Ricky was indeed gay.

I read somewhere online that apparently Larry Drake was intentionally going for that. He saw some lines in the script where Durant showed Rick some affection and decided to play it balls-to-the-wall gay.
And just for some added emphasis, we didn't ever see Durant with any women, did we? Even in the second film the most he did was bribe a scientist by offering him a choice of women, it never clarified any of them were for Durant.

Also note Durant's reaction to Strack when he gives him the Good News and the Bad News.
"Your wife died." - Strack.
Durant gives him a look like "I don't have a wife."

reply

That's actually really well-spotted, I never thought of that. I thought Strack was just being a dick and making a stupid joke, but that actually makes a LOT of sense.
