Old thread but I see misinformation about a separate "movie" quite often. There is no movie utilizing the 1991 cast. For marketing purposes, NBC labeled the pilot (first episode) and the second night of broadcast (episode 2/3 combo) as being part of "Dark Shadows : The Movie" in certain advertisements and then with episode 4 referred to it as the series.

So if I were to buy the Dark Shadows: The Revival, The Complete Series DVD, this would be on it?

I'm sorry, I must be confused as well. It lists here Joanna Going's character as Victoria Winters Collins and Carolyn as Carolyn Stoddard Haskell. When did these weddings take place? All that I saw of Carolyn and Joe was some attempted romance after Daphne was killed.
Thanks

The info on this entry at IMDB is incorrect.

I wasn't born when the original aired but if it was anything like this it sucked big time. Other then seeing a young Joseph Gordon-Levitt this show is a waste of time. The acting is horrible and the story is slow and boring.

That's because the original was a SOAP OPERA that aired in the 60s and aired 5 days a week for several years. SOAP OPERAS are known to be slow. This show however speeded things up faster than even I expected. Probably knew it wouldn't make it so it got as much of the story into the few episodes that was made as they could.

But Dark Shadows was different than other soaps that were running at the time. DS moved *very* fast in relation to the other soaps. The stories, while they were drawn out, still moved very quickly in soap opera time. If you missed a week of episodes you could be lost!

Did the OP mean "what's the difference in details" from the original to this one? There were quite a few changes.

This version of "Dark Shadows" aired during the Persian Gulf War. Episodes were constantly interrupted by coverage of the events of the war and this led to low ratings. THAT is the reason why it got cancelled. They did not know that the show would not make it as you say. The reason that season 1 went so quickly is because they wanted to introduce popular storylines from the original TV series such as the arrival of Barnabas and the 1790 (1795 in the original show) storylines. They had planned on coming back for another season and even had storylines planned out. Season 2 would have introduced Quentin Collins played by Adrian Paul who portrayed Jeremiah Collins in season 1.

If you see a message from me, read my biography first before making a post. Thanks!

Your age says it all. I grew up watching the original series as a child and this revival was close to it. The acting was actually quite good and no there arent special effects but that only adds to the charm
