Dances with Wolves - Lawrence of Arabia

Some people compare Avatar with Dances with Wolves... What about Lawrence of Arabia?

It could be argued that except for the love scene (well if you include Alli :)) that this movie took a lot of themes from Lawrence of Arabia:

- Man is not a conventional soldier, needs to go to the wilderness (desert) to find himself.

- Meets and becomes friends with Indians (Arabs)

- Almost becomes an Indian (Arab)

- Has to leave the group because not an Indian (Arab)

There are other similarities, but you get the jist.

I think one primary different between the LoA comparison and the DWW comparison is that Lawrence never outright betrays his country. Yes, he encourages the Arabs to pursue their own goals, not those of the British, but he never turns traitor. In the end, rather than joining the other side, he walks away from the conflict entirely, seeing that he was just a pawn, being used by both sides.
