American History X meet The Terminator (spoiler)

The parallels between "The Terminator" and this movie are unmistakable, evil robots assuming the guise of humans, with even the special effects bearing a striking resemblance.

As for "American History X," the central character, Cody Culp, emerges from prison with resolute intentions of rehabilitate himself from a life of criminality, even if it necessitates confronting his former gang associates—mirroring the trajectory of the protagonist in "American History X". Culp, much like Derek in American History X , is confronted with the revelation that his own brother has succumbed to gang life, he tries to get him out of this world without success.

In one pivotal scene, Cody's younger brother grapples with emotional turmoil, about the transformation that has rendered his elder sibling a "different person", who openly expresses disdain for the lifestyle of their former gang associates—an evocative echo of a similar scene in "American History X". Subsequently, in both films, the younger brothers undergo a transformation of their own, growing more compassionate and gaining a deeper understanding of their elder siblings.

Tragically and unexpectedly, in both movies, a short time later, they both meet their untimely demise. In "American History X", Danny falls victim to a gang member within the confines of his school. Meanwhile, in "Class of 1999," Cody's younger brother is allegedly murdered at school by gang members, only for later revelations to unveil the shocking truth—that one of the teachers committed the crime. In both stories, the elder brother arrives at the scene of the tragedy belatedly, cradling his younger sibling in his arms during their final moments.

For those inclined to delve even deeper, it's worth noting that, according to one theory, the death of his brother drives Derek in "American History X" to revert to a life of crime in order to avenge his sibling's untimely demise—a thematic parallel shared by the protagonist in "Class of 1999".

P.S. I am aware that the movie "American History X" was filmed years later. I simply wished to underscore the similarities between the films.
