Does an alternate opening really exist?

I used to rent this film from a Broadway Video store back in like 1996 or 1997 and none of the VHS copies had the alternate opening so does it really exist? I've seen the alternate ending several times like on SyFy (previously known as Sci-Fi) and they had the alternate ending but no alternate opening. Is this a hoax or is it real. The other opening was written but not filmed, which involved Karen at court telling everyone that Chucky was alive but the opening was scrapped due to budgeting reasons and later added as the ending scene to Curse of Chucky over 23 years later. Anyways I heard that the alternate opening involves some cops going into Andy and Karen's old apartment from the first film and picking up the old burnt remains of Chucky and delivering them to the Play Pals factory as seen in the beginning of the second film, which is the next scene afterwards which is otherwise the opening to the film with Chucky's burnt head on a turntable with the repairmen taking out Chucky's eyeballs.

The alternate opening might have been used in the novelization, but no, there was never any alternate opening for the film itself, or else they would have shown it when they aired the film on USA/SYFY.

I've seen a few unconnected peoples on various sites over the years make reference to an alternate opening that's literally 30 seconds long and involves people picking up the remains of Chucky from the Brewster apartments and segues directly into the standard opening of Child's Play 2.

The one commonality between everyone that's seen it? It was on VHS, right after the movie was released on that format. Looks like it's on 1991 VHSs only, possibly only in one territory (North America, Europe etc).
