The atmosphere of the film

This is a very colorful horror film especially compared to other horror films which are usually covered in shadows, lights are usually out, sometimes takes place in dark and brooding forests like the Friday the 13th films but this is the complete opposite. The toy factory, the foster parent's house, the school and just about every place is very bright in colors. I know there were about 3 scenes that took place at night when there was storm but even then the film has a very colorful blue look to it. All the vibrant colors in the film give the atmosphere a very childish and kid's toy like feeling which gives it a very sick and twisted feel to it because of the whole subject matter of a serial killer doll mutilating people.

I completely agree with you! It was the best setting ever. They did a great job.

I watch it from time to time and it still gives me the creeps.

even the score to the movie is very playful like that.

i like the look and feel of it though. makes it seem less like a repeat of the first film which had a dark gritty atmosphere.

This has the best score of the series. The score from the fisrt movie sounds too synthetic and the score for Child's Play 3 sounds more like something for a Steven Seagal movie.

well its different composers for each of the first 3.

the first film seemed more dark and bleak with its big city setting. snowy cold weather. dark alleys.
the Chucky Theme is also kind of christmas-ish and haunting.

the second film is more toy-like. you really get the evil toy vibe in it.

third film score is good in that it feels like a horror score but its very subtle when its music. for the most part its screeches and surprising bursts of noise. but well that film was rushed. so im sure not a lot of thought was put into it.

Child's Play 2 had the best cinematography out of all the films. The film was nicely polished and had great use of colors, lighting and Graeme Revell did a fantastic job on the film score, esp.at the end in the factory.

I loved the cinematography, esp.the scenes at night with the blue and white lighting/shadow.the scene where Andy looks down in the basement, and sees Chucky's gone from the floor, only leaving a window's shadow from the moonlight always gave me creeps.Stefan Czapsky should do more cinematography in films, mainly horror. His work in Edward Scissorhands and Batman Returns was also great.

This was during a stretch where Universal Pictures was knocking them out of the ballpark. Even their low budget horror films, like this one, were done well. Gotta love the James Horner-scored Universal 75 logo and theme, as well.
