A ruler weighs about as much as a feather, how is that possible? But then again, her death was off-screen, so maybe Chucky did some other stuff after the ruler-whipping.
shareTo be fair, we don't see her die. Chucky stabs her with the bike pump and then smacks her a couple of times with the ruler as the camera cuts to the exterior of the school. For all we know, his arm got tired after a few more whacks (huh huh) and he chose some other implement to finish her off.

I think this is the most underrated death scene in the entire series. She was stabbed first with a bike pump and air was shot into her body, that could be so debilitating and probably paralyzed her. If Chucky hit a vein or major artery it's lights out for Ms. Kettlewell! And the fact that she couldn't get up proves how gravely wounded she was. She saw her death coming and couldn't stop it and by a doll too!
What makes this scene great is the ironic twist with the ruler. If you're of a certain age you could remember when "paddling" was allowed in school. Teachers used to be able to spank you and often times with a ruler. To see a teacher like Ms. Kettlewell getting beaten with a ruler was nothing short of genius if you ask me. And that ruler was not as light as a feather! Also, when you consider that she was in no position to fight back she mostly likely was beaten to death with it. A few whacks in the head would do it or hitting her where she was wounded could cause internal bleeding. This scene relied on little blood and was both horrific in tone and was a winking smile at the audience. I personally loved it! I also thought it was hilarious to see her wearing a button that said "Just Say No" which was icing on the cake. There's a lot of dark comedy in this.
Ummm... first he stabbed her with a bicycle pump. He could have hit a major artery and she bled to death. Plus, as others have pointed out already, it doesn't actually show her die so he could have finished her off with something else.

Plus we've seen how physically strong Chucky is for having such a tiny body. I mean, look at the factory at the end that he rigs up to attack Kyle in the finale. He could be strong enough to actually finish her off with the ruler if he hits her in the right place, like at the base of her skull.
