New Re-Animator comic book coming out soon!

Dynamite Entertainment, who's been doing the on-going "Army Of Darkness" series (which is to die for & needs to be seen to be believed), are handling this new "Re-Animator" series.

The series will be an on-going stand-alone title, but Dynamite has also figured to put one little trick up it's sleeve: if Freddy versus Jason worked, why not Ash versus Herbert West? Yes, you heard it right. Ash, the fearless idiot with a chainsaw, is gonna face off against Dr. Herbert West and the fate of the world hangs in the balance!

After the events of the recent Army Of Darkness mini-series "Shop Till You Drop Dead", Ash ends up getting locked away into a mental hospital...locked away into Arkham Asylum in Arkham, Massachusetts that is (home of all that is HP Lovecraft). Guess who happens to be the resident doctor? WEST! West has been burning those midnight oils, creating an undead army via his re-animate to help usher in a new world order and yes, you got it, bring back The Old Ones at the same time (if you don't know who The Old Ones are, you need to read some Lovecraft, dammit)! The Necronomicon is in o0n this one too, with itself obviously having the power to awaken The Ol Ones from their million years long slumber. And yes, it's up to good ol' Ash to once again save humanity from the evil of The Necronomicon but also the evil that is Herbert West and quite possibly even Cthulu as well!

The comic book series starts around August/September so look for it in real comic book shops everywhere!

I can't wait.

They are going to have 4 different promotional covers. I only have a link for one of them.

Thats the best news in a long time!!!!! Just watched 'the bride' loved it better than first and third in my opinion anyway. Coincidently i've been reading the At the mountains of madness probably the best science fiction i've ever read, and would love to see another persons interpretation of the old ones!!!! Wuuupppieeee!!!! :D

This isn't my LiveJournal, as you might be able to tell from the fact that there's a drworm who posts here sometimes.

but herbert west wasn't evil, he was just a highly-motivated and ambitious scientist. reanimator is too complex of a movie for some lame 'versus' idea. why can't people just leave good-enough alone?

reply

no dave he only cut off a man's head with a shovel and HE RE ANIMATED PEOPLE!! Naw, he wasn't crazy LOL (where do these freako's come from?)

reply

Never said anything about his not being crazy, just that he wasn't evil. Hell, I bet Herbert killed fewer people than the average action movie hero.

100% dedication. It wasn't a random murder, he was protecting his work. If any of us had the backbone we'd do the same thing. Dire circumstances have dire results. It was all in the name of science.

I guess you're just not passionate about things the way West is passionate about science.

I think that when threatened, self-defense to the point of deadly force is a reasonable response. If somebody came into my house and threatened my mom or someone else I care about, I'd react violently. I figure West cares about his work the way (perhaps to a greater degree) a lot of people care about loved ones.

Yeah, I would say "excessive", but still understandable. I guess I would also consider killing an intruder excessive when knocking them unconscious and subduing them would suffice. Actually, after my last response I decided that I consider West's feelings towards his work more like those of a parent towards a child. And parents collectively have done some extreme things to protect their kids. I just don't see West in the movie as being an insane character (though, I do think that in Lovecraft's story there is more evidence of questionable mentality). I think of him in the movie as being above the standard social codes by which most of us live. As I implied before (or maybe I stated it outright), most of us really value human relationships. West, not so much. He's in love with his work. By the way, that's great wording--"...theft of intellectual property..."
