Question about Bride of Re-Animator on DVD.

I am a big fan of the original Re-Animator and have the 2-Disc Elite DVD which is great. I also think that the sequel "Bride..." is good fun and would like to purchase it on DVD too. I understand there are several versions of the film on DVD, one from Artisan, Pioneer and just released in my homeland of Australia (Region 4) by Umbrella (AV channel).

A couple questions I would appreciate being answered:

* Pioneer DVD is a 2-Disc set, with Unrated (97min) and R-Rated (96min) versions of the film. Q: Is the Audio Commentaries on both versions (eg. both disc 1 R-rated and disc 2 Unrated) or just the unrated side?

* Q: What is the video and audio like? I heard that there is a standard and letterbox format, but no 16 X 9 enhancement. What is the sharpness, color like etc....?

Thanks to anyone who can help.

The region 2 DVD by Tartan Terror is in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen with a Dolby Stereo sound design. But it looks and sounds like total *beep*

Go for the pioneer if you can find it. You might end up paying about £20 for a second hand dvd because it's out of print.

I was lucky enough to find the pioneer edition at FYE of all places for $4.99, still sealed. My guess is that it was sitting in the back somewhere and they put it out. Haven't watched it yet, but looking forward to it.

i almost bought the Pioneer version in the london Cinema Store for £15, then kind of had second thoughts.

The store owner is a sort of friend of mine so i alerted him to the scarcity of the title... and that £15 was far too cheap for it... he offered to let me have it at the £15..but i thought it would only end up sitting on my shelf for years... so i declined..

the next week i found out he had raised the price to £35 and that it sold a few hours after i had left the shop that day. LOL...

Kind of balances out the £20 he knocked off the £40 asking price for Clownhouse on DVD that he gave me a few months earlier. (its a central london shop the prices they charge are big but then the usual customers are not the type of people who are looking to save a few pounds lol)

So if vivalacgw-1 can get it for £20 then i hope he or she gets the winning bid in as it IS the best version.

apart from that theres vanilla full screen version on R1 also

I live in the west ids so london is a bit far for me but I would like to visit this shop. Oh and by the way the bid went up to 25 quid and 2.50 p&p so I did'nt bother.I don't fancie paying that much for it considering it's second hand and not a limited edition.

the shop is in St Martins Lane not far from Charing Cross should you ever find yourself in london lol

bummer about the bid going up..ive seen this dvd selling for £70+ on sites like amazon

Pioneer is not 2 discs it's doubled sided. It does not have "widescreen" just "matted" so parts of the film are actually blacked out by the "mat". I do not know if there is another dvd of the unrated version. If you are looking for the best extra features Pioneer is the way to go! Commentay is just on the rated side.
