share- when the re-animated detective's arm is chopped off, the camera pans up to show his pain in the unrated version but the R-rated has a short shot of Dan with a gun to his head spliced back in and a few less frames of pain
- "bum" zombie's hands bleed for a few frames more when cut by machette in unrated version
- short shot of bride showing her heart after ripping it out
- longer shot of brides head ripping off and body ripping in two
I have the Tartan DVD release, released last year, is this one unrated?

The Artisan disk if I recall from all the discussion when it came out is actually the unrated cut of the film. It's a direct port of the unrated cut from the Pioneer release, and the R rating on the sleeve is erroneous.
shareDoes that mean the Artisan VHS copy is also the unrated version?
(If you had to guess....and, yes, you have to.)
No idea about the VHS. Having checked the Pioneer special edition flipper disk it also has Artisan written on it just to add the confusion. Either way the both the special edition and the later full screen (open matte) edition are both uncut. I guess the only way to tell if the vhs is the unrated cut is to see just how bad he image quality is, if it's terrible and the audio barely audible then it's the uncut version. There just isn't enough cut to compare the running time.
shareThanks, Steve.
I did some research and found that Live Home Video released the VHS in both Unrated and Rated versions.
I don't know if the VHS has a better print (it probably doesn't) but you might be able to tell from the screen shots on the back of this box:
search "360104192397" on ebay
(the auction ended so no links will work)
Aritsan is part of the Pioneer company, but I don't think Live Home Video is...so it's POSSIBLE that it looks and sounds better.
Actually, Live and Artisan were/are the same company. Live originally started out as USA Home Video in the 80s and then changed into I.V.E. (International Video Entertainment) and then in the early-to-mid-90s, became Live Home Video, which became Artisan, which has now been absorbed into Lions Gate.
I would still like to see the unrated version of Bride of Re-Animator. I have the piece of crap Artisan DVD, which is actually still somehow gory nonetheless.
Scuba Steve thinks the Artisan DVD IS the unrated version (see above).
I know its running time is 99 minutes.
Does anyone know of a running time that differs?
(This is some really important stuff right here......riiiight.)
