Europe has their Baron von Frankenstein from the early 1800s.

We Americans have our 21st century Doctor Herbert West. We can all identify with him as one of us from the educated middle class, although admittedly demented, but lovable.

Dr. Herbert West (Jeffrey Combs) is physically unimpressive, only 5'7" tall, and looks completely harmless. It's what he does and what he makes that isn't so...harmless.

Jeffrey Combs in his younger days remind me of a guy you would meet in your college dormitory, the kind of harmless, nerdy, over-intelligent, possibly slightly obsessive compulsive, but nonetheless a fascinating dude to be around once you get to know him well.
