At the end of the movie, Dr Jennings got his post as a town doctor, the world was saved. So, why they moved back to San Francisco ?

Because they didn't want to live amongst those inbred bumpkins. Can you blame them? Canaima looked boring as all hell.

Didn't you see the damage to their house at the end? That house was rotted out from the celler on up and Ross ended up falling through the floor.
