Old Movies and bad ratings

WHY is almost anything done before 2008 have a bad rating, when all throughout my growing up these movies were considered to be good and successful? DO people really rate things so harshly now? Seems everyone is a critic and doesn't just enjoy a good movie. This movie is rated way too low. 7.5 at least.

It's funny how you consider anything before 2008 to be "old"

You don't know the terms in which I meant old. In imdb rating system I noticed after a few years go by ratings shift and get lower. So by old I mean anything that is past 5 years, the ratings slip.

It's from people who are too young to appreciate them, that didn't grow up watching them. Ones born in the late 90's and after that don't remember what it was like to watch special effects get better & ones that don't know what it was like to not have cell phones.
