...or did Ace Ventura take some serious cues from this movie? Was Jim Carrey somewhat inspired by The Dice?

Not sure, but after seeing both I thought it would have been a great idea to pair these two together in a "co-sequel", ala "Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein", as a way to salvage a little more material out of both. There would have been some amazing interplay between the two characters, and a Dali-esque plot.

I don't think so. These two are SO different in their styles, and Clay just copied his performance in Pretty in Pink.
