How was the quality?

reply

It was great. The quality was my main concern when I was thinking about buying the show, but I am extremely happy with the quality, there are a few minor flaws here and there but nothing that ruins the experience of watching the episode, every single episode was in great quality, not official dvd release quality of course, but still damn good.

Who did you buy it from on ebay, because I have been searching for this series and I can't find it anywhere on ebay. Please e-mail me if you have any info on how I might buy this series. My e-mail is [email protected].

You're participating in copyright infringement by buying ebay bootlegs.

Boo-hoo-hoo. Oh, how I weep for a company that is too stupid to provide a DVD release and make some money with it themselves. If they don't want other people making money off it, they could solve the problem very easily by releasing the damn show on DVD, couldn't they?

The nature of the market is supply and demand. In this case, there is demand, but no supply...at least not from the legal copyright holders. If someone else wants to meet the demand with a supply, then I guess that's the copyright holders' tough sh!t. Pity if companies want to bust people for selling an item that they refuse to release themselves...or especially those who have to go through such channels and buy an inferior product, simply because the copyright holders won't give them a proper release.

Really, if a company whines about someone else profiting from a title that they're going out of their way not to make money off of themselves, I have absolutely no pity for them.

The company who owns the rights is 'Ellipse'. They are very well known for having the rights on 'The Adventures of Tintin'. They should be able to release it...

Zorro - Updates for DVDs of the 1990 Family Channel Series starring Duncan Regehr

Looks like A&E Home Video has the distribution rights, and hopes to have DVDs out this year

We passed along news back in May that the "New World" version of Zorro, starring Duncan Regehr, which aired as part of the Family Channel lineup back in 1990, was coming to DVD. No specific timeframe was available then, but now one of our readers has pointed us toward an update! Our thanks to Darrell Ellis, who alerted us that the "ZorroLegend" blog posted an entry late last week, with the following information:

New World Zorro DVD Release Update

A&E Video has a target of December 2010 for the release of the New World Zorro DVD set. Keep in mind that the specific release date has not been determined and that release dates are subject to change.

The original target was Fall 2010 but that was a little too quick, so the new target is December 2010. A lot goes into preparing a DVD release such as this one. We are going to get some great bonus features, including outtakes and the original never-before-seen pilot that did not star Duncan Regehr. It takes time to process these bonus features. In the meantime, we have much to anticipate!

There's a number of pieces of information in there, so let's recap them: according to the quote above, A&E Home Video will be distributing the title, and are hoping for release in December 2010 (but it could still be subject to change). Extras will include the failed 1987 pilot treatment with Patrick James in the role of Zorro (more details on this in the blog at the above link, in a July 21st post), as well as outtakes from the regular series with Regehr. Of course, this information about the supplements isn't finalized, either, and could still be subject to change. Stay tuned for further updates!
