What's with the teepees?

I'm watching the episode "Double Entendre" and they are showing a ransacked Indian camp with tipis.LOL The homes of the Gabrielino Indians were made by placing poles upright in a circle and bending them in to meet in the middle.The frame work of poles was covered with bundles of tule reeds. Costuming was wrong too,the Gabrielino women would wear aprons and deerskin. Children and men would sometimes wear no clothes(that would have been easy for the costuming dept. but would not have made it past the censors.)

OK, today I'm watching the episode"Rites of Passage" Sargent Mendoza identified the tribe as being Chumash.They lived along the coast of California, between Malibu and San Luis Obispo, as well as on the Northern Channel Islands.
Their dwellings were large, dome-shaped homes that were made of willow branches and tules. Whalebone was used for reinforcing. The interior rooms were partitioned for privacy by hanging reed mats from the ceiling. With platform beds built above the ground, the Chumash used the area under the platforms to store personal belongings.

How long does it take to do a little research? 5 min? 10?

No internet back then, but I get your point. Growing up in Southern California, I knew about the homes of the Chumash from a young age. I don't distinctly remember when I learned it, but I always knew they had homes similar to wigwams. I think we even saw some on a field trip in grade school.
