Best Zorro ever.

This series deserved a longer run and a more satisfying ending, but all in all, the best Zorro series ever for many reasons

Duncan Regehr - the best Zorro - brought class, artistic individuality, depth, intelligence, athleticism, along with chiseled good looks and a distinctive and delightful flair for the Zorro character to this role. No one has ever done it better! Duncan Regehr in real life is a gifted artist, published poet, and champion athlete in boxing and ice skating - an unusual combination which explains the unique skills he brings to this portrayal.

Patrice Martinez - the best Zorro heroine - She absolutely creates the role of Victoria - spunky but vulnerable, innocent, sweet, spirited, loyal and intelligent, as well as graceful and lovely. You really do want Zorro/Diego to fall in love with someone just like Victoria - and vice versa - and you can't help rooting for this couple to have a very happy ending but a very long and interesting and romantic courtship also -

Henry Darrow - always classy, brings a special quality to every role he is in. One of my favorite actors ever!

Terrific ensemble cast with new characters rather than relying on the excellent but already established Disney Zorro series. A well told story, well acted, with great character development, well researched historical details, unforgettable stars - good clean fun for all ages, too, to include a trite but true description -

What more can you say? This series deserves a DVD with a 5 star rating.
Even today, 17 years after the beginning of the first season (1989-1990), it enjoys a solid fan following from viewers and with very good reason. Many follow up series are a disappointment, but taking nothing away from the great Disney series, this Zorro expanded upon and even exceeded the original - a real achievement!

Actually most of the series is on YT and has been for about 2 yrs now.

The first season was released in Germany for almost a year ago, but only with german as the speaking language. Here is a link to the ones who distributed it http://www.kinowelt.de/dvd/zorro-1_staffel, but you can't buy it from them.

MMMM, I agree with you for the most part. The Disney version from the 50s is better, but I really do like this version alot! it is 2nd place with ease!

I disagree with you on the filming location thing though.

I liked that the 90s version of Zorro was filmed in Spain.

I felt that filming in Spain gave it a nice exotic touch

I have to disagree with you because I do like the new one better, but I'm assuming the production quality was better because they didn't have a lot of money for the new one. Duncan wore different suits as Diego. I don't know about the 50s, but in the new one they filmed two or three episodes at a time too and because of the lack of money, they recycled a lot of the scenes.

Disney Zorro was miles better.

The 1990's Zorro had some good points, but overall it was pretty bad. The bottom line is its swash wasn't buckled. It was missing the real excitement of Zorro. Disney Zorro captured that swashbuckling spirit.
