I am going to guess Lolita, Merilyn Monroe, Jeckyll and Hyde.

There's a movie called Experiment in Terror that has a Twin Peaks in it. Also, in the tv series The Fugitive, there's a constant search for a one-armed man.

There's persuasive argument that it's all a metaphor for the US TV industry.
