I got it from Netflix with low expectations; so many series which were amusing at the time just don't seem all that great on DVD years later. So far only watched the first episode and commentary and am pleasantly surprised. Still fresh and cool and fun. Good cast, and amusing to see how the makers enjoy watching their work on the commentary to the point that they get into it and forget to say anytyhing!
If you really want to enjoy the show for what it was, I suggest you only watch til around midway season two. From that point onto season three, its not the same show. Sure the characters are there and some go missing but the show isnt the same after midway season two.

S2 was patchy at best even in the first half. The only episodes that carried over the feel of S1 were the ones with Pankow and "Future Shock" which seemed like an actual leftover of S1. In S1 they had to come up with a lot of fancy camera work, sound effects and talented young directors to cover up the budget constraints. Also the writers were supported by Tom Straw's caustic dialogue and tight plots. In S2 almost all of this was gone. Whereas S1 had an almost cinematic feel at times, S2 and S3 with their lazy directing and scatterbrained storylines felt very much like TV shows despite a bigger budget and (post-production) special effects.
Season 2 was actually not that different from Season 1. The cartoon style and crazy camerawork were still intact as were the characters as we knew them from S1. In fact I'd say S2 was abit too much like S1, going so far as to recycle wholesale plots/storylines. But the episode "Tower of Power" is a def. high point of the show. The scene where Lemmer screams at Musso to shut up is a complete classic in itself. As the season progressed they did concentrate more on the Parker/Annie romance but the show completely changed in S3. In S3 they turned every bit that made PLCL unique and original in the first place to its polar opposite.
Most of the episodes in season 2 were more or less little morality plays or they focused on Parker and Annie's relationship. Also, there's I think more than one obligatory 'Mikey drops out of high school' episode.
