Final episode question
What was the reason for none of the series' other main characters - Mrs Warboys, Mr Swainey, Patrick and Pippa - appearing at all in the very last episode?

I raised a similar question in my posting "Series finale lacked familiar faces."
Upon reflection, I suspect the other regulars were left out so as not to clutter the story line of a tragic episode.
Still, a silent montage of scenes from previous episodes involving some or all the secondary characters could have been run under the credits, as a flashback to "happier days."
I so wish that series writer David Renwick could read the postings on this board and provide some insight on why he did (or did not) construct the plots the way he did.
