Victor was great. He definitely was a sensitive and caring person. I remember him asking Margaret once why people had to be so cruel. I think Margaret said it best about Victor in the final episode, (I paraphrase) that Victor actually tried to do something about the ills of society, and his only reward was more grief. I'm a bit upset as well, like everyone, that Victor was killed off, but in the dark undertone of the show, I think it makes sense. Still, I am a bit mad at the writer too for thinking that was the only way to end it. Although, the entire series was pure genius. You just don't see it coming sometimes, like when Victor hired that fellow to "paint" the house. :)
I don't know if the laws are so different in England, but here in the U.S. the people who assaulted him would have received a 30 day to a 6 month jail sentence for their crimes. On the other hand, Victor did some things that would have landed him in jail as well, so I guess it's best to leave well enough alone. :) Locking that locksmith in his entryway was hilarious, but also falls under false imprisonment at best. There were just so many funny scenes throughout the show.
