Important question, please help

If you haven't seen 'Father Ted' then you might enjoy, at least the episode entitled 'The Mainland' which features Richard Wilson, here's the edited version (just the Richard W scenes):

Perhaps the closest we have had in the UK in terms of themes and tone is 'Waiting For God' (1990-94) even if the main setting is a retirement home rather than suburbia. The main character, Diana Trent (Stephanie Cole), is something of a female Victor Meldrew - an acerbic, outspoken, frequently cranky, yet ultimately good-hearted pensioner who most of the time just wants peace, yet is really in her element teaching bullies and idiots not to treat the elderly as weak. The show even stars Janine Duvitski from OFITG as the ridiculously drippy care assistant Jane.
