Watch out, he's got the pastry, he's got the pastry!
Does anyone remember Victor's recurring dream about pastry? It came up in several episodes and it kind of seemed to be a continuing story. He would always get really upset in the dream that someone had the pastry and was doing something with it; and then in one episode, was it the last one with the pastry dream?, he speaks resignedly: there is no more pastry; it's all gone now
Does anyone know the significance of the pastry dream?
I interpreted it ( I'm sure it's completely wrong, though) like this:
The pastry is a metaphor for Kylie, Margaret's goddaughter's pet tortoise they had to care for while she was on holiday.
In the episode "We have put her living in her tomb" Victor falls asleep while the tortoise is on his lap. Then he says in his sleep "watch out, he's got the pastry, he's got the pastry,..ahh!" When he wakes up, Margaret calms him down and says "it's only Jackie's pet tortoise" Victor replies:" I thought it was a hernia."
Victor and Margaret are always scared that they might have inadvertently harmed or even killed Kylie, and there is a scene, when again they can't find Kylie where Margaret asks Victor:" Did you put the pie in the microwave?" * Do you mean the big crusty pie with the four baby gherkins at each corner?"
Anyway not to give anything away but Kylie's fate is rather grim in the end. I thought when Victor said " there is no more pastry; it's all gone now", it was about Kylie's tragic demise.
I bet I'm wrong though! I would love to hear your theories thou!!
