I read on a fan site once that when Barry Corbin hurt his leg shows were rewritten for Walt. Even the storyline when Walt and Ruth Anne got stranded together. I cant see those two together. Can anyone confirm this? I think walt certainly got more screentime as a result though.

SEATTLE - "Northern Exposure" star Barry Corbin was in satisfactory condition at Harborview Medical Center after he fell off his horse and broke his left leg and left foot Friday near his home in Arlington, Snohomish County.
Nursing supervisor Mary Pilgrim said surgery would be required.
Corbin plays retired astronaut Maurice Minnifield on the television show, which is filmed in Roslyn and Redmond. He has a home in Arlington.
