Maurice's singing at the wedding

Since Shelly personally requested to Maurice that he sing at her wedding....I was thinking he might have a good voice and then when the scene happened, it wasn't good. It was disappointing and kind of funny. Thoughts?

It surprised me, too. I remember catching that scene for the first time with my family and we all cracked up.

I think it's that Maurice has an ego and truly believed he could sing. His closest friends wouldn't oppose, but it was certainly odd.

Now I know I'm not alone! Thank you!

I wish I could have your back, but I'm totally tone deaf. So, I'll take your word on it.

We live as we dream - alone.

I've decided that Maurice thoroughly lacks self-awareness which would explain his willingness to sing with such a bad singing voice at Holling and Shelly's wedding.

I'm also reminded of the second episode of season 1 when Maurice fires Chris for discussing on the air that Walt Whitman was probably gay/bisexual. Maurice performs DJ duties on KBHR and played show tunes from Kiss Me Kate written by Cole Porter who was also a homosexual.

It was hilarious. His singing was awful but he looked so pleased with himself. Classic scene.
